Balancing hormones

Balancing hormones can make a big difference to how you feel. They go out of balance very easily as a result of stress, diet and lifestyle.

The endocrine system  (hormones)  is an intricate network of glands which secrete hormones  on which every bodily activity is dependent directly into the blood. Changing our habits can be extremely beneficial for balancing hormones. Can help with PMS and may help with other conditions relating to our menstrual cycle.

Premenstrual Syndrome symptoms can vary from person to person. Anxiety, water tension, headaches, food cravings; breast tenderness, mood swings and tiredness are very common. Food sensitivities can contribute to PMS.

Take regular exercise it does not need to be the gym. Choose exercise you enjoy swimming, brisk walking, or dancing have fun. It helps with PMS as it helps reduce stress and inflammation.

You may find reducing foods such as dairy, wheat and sugar help your condition

Cut down on salt and alcohol, Evening Primrose oil or oily fish tablets may help ease your symptoms.

  • Eat oily fish, nuts and seeds
  • Eat plenty of fruit & veg especially dark green leafy vegetables
  • A good multivitamin
  • Reduce stress
  • Maintain a healthy body weight
  • Reduce caffeine and alcohol
  • Drink plenty of water
  • Get plenty of sleep
